Platypus working bee a success

A platypus habitat improvement day was held at the Platypus Walk ponds and Kermandie River in Heritage Park, Geeveston on Saturday, July 24.

The event was organised by local tourism organisation, Wildlife Tasmania, who run guided wildlife and photography tours through the Platypus Walk and Kermandie River.

The dedicated Platypus Walk ponds and Kermandie River are highlighted as perfect habitats for platypus in Heritage Park, with clean water, soft earth riverbanks suitable for burrowing, ample natural food supply and vegetation along the river banks providing cover for platypus, making it a perfect place for platypus to survive and breed.
