The Friends of Franklin Velodrome community group announced on Wednesday, September 8 that they had received notification from the Huon Valley Council (HVC) of plans to tear up the velodrome and grass the track.
The group announced via their Facebook page that they were disappointed by the HVC’s decision and that their reasoning behind the decision was misguided.
“Restoration of the track would be from grant funding (a current round is perfect for this purpose) and the cost estimate is less than $100,000,” a spokesperson for Friends of Franklin Velodrome stated.
