Community anger during public meeting

One hundred and thirty-four people attended a public meeting at the Franklin Palais on Friday, February 4, which discussed the process undertaken by the Huon Valley Council (HVC) for recruiting and appointing the new General Manager.

During the discussions of over eighteen motions and submissions from the Director of Local Government, former HVC councillor Mike Wilson and HVC Mayor Bec Enders, frustrated Huon Valley community members voted in favour of dismissing both the General Manager Jason Browne and other Huon Valley councillors.

All eighteen motions were carried in regards to the flawed General Manger recruitment which occurred last year after the current General Manager Jason Browne was found to have been in a relationship with the head of Red Giant, the agency contracted to assist in the council’s recruitment process.
