Project X back on the cards

Mona’s DarkLab has announced that it is attempting to again pass its Huon Valley Project X past the Huon Valley Council (HVC).

The HVC rejected the application for Project X’s art installation Transformer, an artwork by American artist Doug Aitken described as a “never ending kaleidoscope”, late last year, which was proposed for the Ida Bay Reserve.

The $9.5 million installation was announced as part of Project X aimed at bringing visitors back to the Huon Valley after the devastating 2019 bushfires that impacted significantly on tourism as well as triggering enduring damage to local businesses in the Valley.
