Pride in the Huon

The Geeveston Community Centre (GeCo) hosted the inaugural Geeveston Rainbow Social at Scrubby Hill Farm on Saturday, April 2, supporting the newly-established LGBTQIA+ support group based in Geeveston Far South Pride.

A wave of colour and festivities took over the Scrubby Hill Farm space, with the Far South Pride group sharing rainbows and colour at its free event, in attendance of over 100 people and dogs.

The event also provided the opportunity for locals to socialise and interact with in the far south rainbow community.

Far South Pride founder Kati Bruton said that the day marked an exciting start for the group’s events in the Huon Valley.

“When I first moved down here, it was resounding how lacking queer representation was,” Ms Bruton expressed.
