The local community group Ranelagh Slimmers celebrated 40 years of operation recently.
The "Slimmers" are a not-for-profit organisation, established in May 1982 by Carol Roberts and Jan Woolley, aimed at encouraging and supporting weight loss in the Huon Valley.
The club’s current standing President is founder Carol and she is supported by a team of long-standing committee members.
"The club was started to help and encourage people to take the steps needed to make a change in their lifestyle, to eat sensibly, to exercise and attain their personal goal and maintain a healthy goal weight," explained Ms Roberts.
The club meets weekly at the Huon Anglican Church for weigh-in, where they also often have guest speakers to advise on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
