Over the school holidays, the Geeveston Girl Guides enjoyed a Dr Seuss-themed camp at The Lea in Kingston, packing as much adventure during their time as possible.

The camp was organised by Geeveston Platypus Leader Kelly McIntosh, who hopes to make the themed camp a regular event among the many Guide camps of the year.

Girl Guides from 7 to 14 years old participated in a wide range of activities from abseiling led by Kelly, and archery, led by the team at Van Diemen Archers, to problem-solving and craft.

One of the youngest Guides even happily abseiled an 11-metre tower.

A Grinchy Christmas dinner was also a highlight for many of the Guides.

“Our Guides are ‘adventure’ Guides - we tend to do as many of the more challenging outdoor activities as possible,” Girl Guide Leader Ronita Ireland-Barratt expressed.
