Approximately one in two people in Tasmania do not have the literacy and numeracy skills that are needed for life in a technologically rich world, something that 26TEN is working to improve in the Huon Valley.
As a 26TEN Community, businesses, organisations, and individuals are working to help Huon Valley residents improve their adult literacy and numeracy skills, with everyone in the Huon Valley given an opportunity to get better at reading, writing, maths and digital skills by joining a group or one on one support. Over the winter months, a group of women have made their own glossy printed books of images and text, applying writing and digital skills they learned during a photobook course run by Lucy Whitehead, a 26TEN Community coordinator.
