A legend of the club and game, former Kermandie Football Club player Phil Martyn was bestowed with a Life Membership at the recent Kermandie Football Clubs Old Players and Officials celebrations.

A frequent face on both the coaching and playing sides of the game, Mr Martyn made a great impression on both Kermandie and the Huon Football Association, with his perseverance and dedication to the game as a ruckman recognised.

Mr Martyn was able to join celebrations via a zoom call to accept his Life Membership, currently living in Darwin and unable to attend in person.

Not only has Mr Martyn been recognised as the “best player in Kermandie” by fellow former Kermandie Football Club player and club historian Rodney ‘Ballsy’ Kean, but has been a five-time senior coach for Kermandie, representing the club in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1980 and 1989.

Amongst his training accolades and successes, Mr Martyn was three times Huon Football Association Best and Fairest award winner and three-time club Best and Fairest, held to three awards as he couldn’t receive more awards as a coach.
