Labor Member for Franklin Dean Winter is the latest person to get behind the community movement urging TasWater to listen to Port Huon locals and look at alternative solutions for an unpopular sewage outfall proposal.
Mr Winter said TasWater needs to work on other options so locals can continue to enjoy the important recreational area at Shipwrights Point, after being granted a Right to Information request into TasWater’s planning documents.
These documents show that the sewage outfall pipe’s relocation was only considered for the Shipwrights Point location, contradicting what TasWater has expressed to locals.
Hundreds of Port Huon locals have already signed a petition against TasWater’s plan to relocate an effluent outlet from the Kermandie River to the Huon River at Shipwrights Point next to popular parklands and a sailing club.
